I've decided to run the NYC Marathon with a great adoption organization called Helpusadopt.org! The organization provides large grants (up to $15,000) to couples and individuals to build their family through adoption.
I never thought adoption would be such an integral part of my story, but here we are! Like just about everyone, when my husband, Josh, and I decided we wanted to have kids, we just assumed it would happen and didn’t think much of it.
After years of fertility treatments, shots, multiple IVF’s, a miscarriage, looking like I was 6 months pregnant for the better part of 2 years, I looked at Josh one day and knew I was done. We dove into adoption head first and found we were completely naïve.
For many, adoption is emotionally and financially draining. We were matched with our son’s birthmom in April of 2011. I will never forget that call. I remember everything about that moment. The next 5 months were a blur.
However on August 8th we experienced the indescribable joy of holding our son for the first time. I had the honor and privilege of being in the room as he was born. It was magical and scary and everything in between.
Our son is now 5 and he is truly the most amazing and kind human being I have ever met. I am so blessed every single day that I get to be his mom.

Helpusadopt.org supports domestic, international and foster care adoptions and does not charge its applicants to apply.
IMPACT OF YOUR SUPPORT
Did you know that there are over one hundred million children in our world that need homes? Although it is unimaginable, this frightening statistic is true. This is a global problem that does not have a simple solution. One answer for many of these children is adoption, but then another problem emerges: an average adoption costs $40,000 and must be paid in full before the adoption is complete. With the average household income in our country being $54,000, many who want to adopt a child or children struggle to meet this lump sum.
Helpusadopt.org is a solution for both problems. The organization awards life-changing grants to families so they can bring their children home.
Since its launch in 2007, Helpusadopt.org has awarded more than $1.7 million in grants and helped to build 189 families. However, the organization receives more than $6,000,000 in requests annually. No child or potential parent should have financial circumstance stand between them and the basic human right to have a family.
